Say No To Filler Oils

What's in a body scrub?

 Organic coconut coffee scrub ingredients

A question many have asked once the scrub is washed off and their skin is left feeling sticky, oily, or dried out. At Pura Vida Body, we've also asked, and answered the question by keeping our ingredients to a minimum and holding our organic coconut coffee scrub to an extremely high standard.

Our goal at Pura Vida Body is to create the best all natural organic coconut coffee body scrub and to make it with the finest ingredients for your skin. We focus on using high quality ingredients, to nourish and soothe all skin types. We use only 100% organic coconut oil in our scrub - which is quite unique as it turns out.

100% Organic Coconut Oil

We've noticed a trend in numerous body scrubs on the market, especially in coffee scrubs. Many body scrubs claim to be made with coconut oil. Perhaps they do have a bit of coconut oil in them, but if you look into the ingredients there are usually tricksy additional oils lurking around. We call these "filler oils."

Filler oils are any basic oil used in place of a higher quality oil, making the product much cheaper to produce. They are usually common household oils, which aren't necessarily bad for the skin, environment, or your health, but are simply mediocre (and leave your skin feeling "meh").

Coconut Oil is not cheap, especially the organic kind. Do a quick search online, and you'll find the average price for 16oz of organic coconut oil is around $12. Compare that to organic olive oil, which averages around $8 per 16oz. Don't get us wrong, we love using olive oil, and it definitely has a place in DIY beauty projects. However, when it comes to scrubbing, we are picky. We believe that body scrub requires a finer oil to be highly nourishing, and to balance the scrubbing.

All Natural Organic Coconut Coffee Scrub by Pura Vida Body

We're sticking to 100% organic coconut oil in our organic coconut coffee body scrub, even though it costs more. Coconut oil hydrates and moisturizes skin naturally, without leaving a greasy film or clogging pores. The subtle oil feels hydrating - not oily. Besides its fab moisturizing qualities, Coconut oil wins on the vitamin side of things, and contains high amounts of Vitamin E. This aids the skin in repairing, and will assist in reducing the appearance of scars, burns, and stretch marks.

Additionally, coconut oil contains amazing antioxidant, free radical fighting, qualities. With high levels of natural antibacterial and anti-fungal elements, the oil helps fight off skin harming elements.

Why use anything less?

Only the best for our scrub squad.
